I went looking for ale and all I found was beer !
I'm taking a month off from this Blog to recharge my batteries, smoke some Cuban cigars, do some more investigative journalism, drink some more ale and hard liquor, visit a few more pubs and then I will be back with a vengeance with new material and a fresh approach to this Blog now on the Ale Trail.

The one's I didn't get to finish...

It's true when they say, "So many Ales and so little time." This blog right now is taking almost 800 hits a month from far away places like Egypt, Figi, New Zealand and Australia. I have picked up a nice following in the UK and what a surprise for all the visits I get each month from South America. I write this Blog, The Ale Trail,: for American's thinking about visiting or returning to visit the UK. That's been my primary audience. Hopefully this information has been of some use. As for me, I see a book somewhere here as I only have provided on this blog about a 5th of the information I have gathered, so we will see.

The 800 year old pub in Axmouth
Michael serving the ale in the above photo was Mr. Informative. I wish I could have stayed there all afternoon and had to be carried out. What a great "Traditional Pub" that you will find just across the street from Saint Michale's in Axmouth. I will return for a meal with my family one day and for now will say I highly recommend this place if you are traveling the Devon Coast.

One pint after the other
I have made so many friends on the Ale Trail. I wish in some ways there were local pubs everywhere in the States. I have yet to run into an annoying person having an ale in a country or small town pub. And for Ale, I like ale you can chew like my nephew Ryan say's. If you can chew it it's good and who am I to argue with the experts. I have decided that My Happy Eye will be on the Ale trail until further notice and that might be for some time to come.

Havana's
When I was deployed on a peace keeping mission after Yugoslavia went to war with itself I was in Sarajevo quite a bit, and when we were there we would go to the French, British or German Military Exchange Stores to purchase Cuban Cigars. We once bought a box of 25 Romeo and Julietta's for about $20 dollars at the German PX... and let me tell you there is nothing like what Kinky Freedman say's when he says he's burning Castro's fields. I was a fan at one time of Kinky Freedman and the Texas Jew boys and have also read his "A Case of Lone Star," which if you haven't read it... it's a not too bad dime store detective novel. I look forward to my sabbatical and those long tasty smoking sessions that will last for hours as I slowly burn those Havana's savoring every draw whilst sipping aged single malt scotch whiskey... yes...

Life goes on as it must....
For now I have places to go and people to see and I will be back... with a vengeance.
